Paul was raised and schooled in Chichester, West Sussex, and attended Portsmouth polytechnic where he took a degree in fine art.  It was not until the age of 30 that he staged his first exhibition in a friend’s barn.   He managed to sell 15 paintings, which surpassed his wildest dreams and game him all the motivation to really try and have a go!

Over the last 17 years he has had a yearly exhibition at Goodwood and also West Dorset where he lived for eight years.   He enjoys painting a mixture of rural, marine, and urban subjects in a traditional figurative style.

He is greatly influenced by the impressionists, and by painters like Turner, Constable and Cezanne.

He often cycles around the countryside in search of inspiration with his sketchbook and pencil, and feels that this way he can capture a greater sense of natural light and feeling.    He prefers to use oils as this medium allows him greater freedom of expression.

He now lives in Chichester with his wife and two daughters, two dog, two cats, and he works in a shed at the bottom of his garden.
