Patsy Swanborough is one of twin professional artists born in Maidstone, Kent, both studying illustration at Medway College of Design in Rochester, Kent 1972 – 1976.

After several holidays on the Isles of Scilly, the twins moved to St Marys in 1978, inspired by the natural beauty, peace, tranquility and bright colours.

They opened their studio in 1987 after a series of commissions which include “Fantasy Jungle” – a large mural in the Porthcressa Inn (taking 2 years to paint) “Dawn to Dusk” a mural on the ship Scillonion III, a large birds-eye painting of Tresco gardens for Robert Dorian-Smith, “Our Street” commissioned for a BBC programme about Hugh Street on St Marys, and “Trewithan Gardens” for Michael Galsworthy (near Truro).

Prince Charles visited their studio 6 months later and their more recent work is a series of “Cats-in-windows” which have been published by Hockin and Roberts Ltd.   There is a 2008 calendar for same from this series.

Patsy is a member of the Society of Feline Artists, and loves all animals, especially cats.

Visitors to the studio are very welcome.
