Nicolette Savage studied at Goldsmiths College School of Art, where she specialised in printmaking and pottery. After graduation, she became Head of Art at Blackheath High School for 4 years. She had a career break training as an opera singer at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, after which she was a professional singer for several years. From 1972 to 1999, she taught printmaking and pottery for Bromley Adult Education.
She is a member of the Society of Women Artists and the Society of Feline Artists; she was also for many years a member of the Association of Sussex Artists. In 2004 she achieved a major success in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, with three of her etchings selling 275 prints; she was also very successful in the 2005 Summer Exhibition with her print "Moonrising", and again in 2006 Summer Exhibition with "Old Tusker". Buyers of her Royal Academy work have come from all over the world including the United States, Japan, South Africa and Germany. She has also regularly exhibited in galleries throughout England, including the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery, the Peter Hedley Gallery and Snape Maltings, and she has had best-selling greeting card designs with Woodmansterne Cards ("Sleepyheads") and Canns Down Press ("First Flight" and "Curious Kitten").
She mainly specialises in animal and nature studies in various media. Her ornamental garden pottery will in future be made only to commission, as she is now concentrating on printmaking and painting. Her special interests are cats, of course, but also other animals and general nature studies. Commissions are always welcome.
