Justin was born in Bedfordshire in 1970, and spent a happy creative childhood running
amok on his parents farm.
Drawing, painting and self expression was encouraged from
an early age and this continued throughout subsequent boarding schools to a BA Honours
Degree in Fine Art at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
Since graduation in
‘93, he has applied his creative mind to many artistic pursuits, including murals,
commissions, large (5'-square plus) paintings - (abstracts, animals, flowers, Marvel
DC comic-book characters and Tibetan dragons), portraits, sculptures in wood, interior
and garden design, assemblages, original CD's of music, (he's a keen guitarist/singer-songwriter/composer),
live performance, poetry, and not least to 'zen and the art of life maintenance'.
Since 2001 he has been living in an old converted chapel in West Penwith with guitars,
paintbrushes, a yoga mat and an Apple Mac for company.
Most recently he has been concentrating
on portraits of people from his life in Cornwall, on abstract works made from sea-shells
collected from local beaches, and on performing solo music gigs as and when the opportunity
arises.
Colour plays an important part in his work, so too clarity, simplicity, communication,
nature and the great outdoors.
His work can be found liberally sprinkled throughout
restaurants, design agencies, recording studios, gardens, private collections, and
beaches(!) in Europe and the USA.
